Why Verity exists

A successful medical career creates financial opportunities, but also decisions that become more consequential over time. Moving into contracting, taking on a larger home loan, establishing a company or trust, buying into a practice and investing outside super can each look sensible on its own. The problem is how those choices interact.

At Verity, we start with the decision in front of you and work backwards to the facts that matter: how income is earned, what the tax rules permit, what the commitments will cost and what you want to preserve for the future.

Sometimes the appropriate next step is a new structure or strategy. Sometimes it is to improve tax cashflow, seek legal advice, or leave a well-functioning arrangement alone. The goal is not complexity for its own sake.

What guides our work

We believe financial resources should be managed with care, integrity and sound judgement. Good decisions should help you fulfil your responsibilities, care for the people who depend on you and retain the freedom to pursue what matters most.

For us, that means clear advice, meaningful trade-offs and practical next steps—not simply looking for the largest tax saving or the next financial product.

Who we work with

Our focus is Australian doctors and dentists, particularly GP contractors, medical and dental practice owners, and professionals approaching significant changes in income, borrowing or ownership. We are based in Bowen Hills, Brisbane, and can work with clients elsewhere in Australia.

Tax-led advice, with the bigger decision in view

Tax expertise is the starting point, not the whole answer. Once the tax treatment and structure are understood, we can examine how borrowing, personal cashflow and longer-term financial plans are affected.

  • How your income is earned, taxed and supported by the right records and arrangements.
  • Whether your companies, trusts and ownership structures still serve a genuine purpose.
  • What a loan, investment or practice transaction would mean for available cash and future flexibility.
  • How super, insurance and investments can support financial security beyond clinical income.
  • Which decision should come first, which can wait and which needs a specialist working alongside us.

Tax, accounting, financial advice and credit assistance are provided under the relevant separate engagements and regulatory arrangements. See our disclosures for details.

The Wealth Compass approach

Make the next decision in context

Our Wealth Compass approach provides a way to look at tax, cashflow, borrowing and wealth decisions together. It is not a promise of a particular investment result or tax outcome. We agree the scope and fees for each professional service before work begins.

Who you’ll work with

Tommy Li CA

Founder | Chartered Accountant and Financial Adviser

Tommy Li founded Verity Advisory to help clients navigate the financial decisions that become more complicated as their income, family responsibilities and business interests grow.

Tommy is a Chartered Accountant, Registered Tax Agent and authorised financial adviser. His accounting background underpins Verity's tax-led approach: first understand how income, entities and transactions are treated, then consider what the decision means for borrowing, cashflow and longer-term planning.

He works with doctors, dentists and practice owners on financial questions that can span several disciplines. Where a matter requires specialist legal advice, valuation or another professional service, that work is separately identified and coordinated where appropriate.

The aim is to help you make a well-informed decision, understand the trade-offs and retain the flexibility to pursue what matters most.
